I was actually pretty surprised that aspect was so lacking after everything else was updated to look so beautiful. I should also mention that the updated character animations in Myst 2021 are hot garbage, and hurt my eyes to watch.

so at the end of the day, unless you are deaf, colorblind, or playing on PC VR, realMyst Masterpiece is still sort of the definitive version as far as having the most story content. Unfortunately, they never got around to putting in the "bonus" age of Rime that was included in the realMyst Masterpiece Edition as foreshadowing the inevitable return to Riven. Beyond those aspects, they have also updated the game to be more accessible to people with disabilities, something that was sorely missing in previous iterations of Myst. Myst 2021 is graphically a lot more detailed (though it does not have day/night cycles like realMyst), you can randomize the puzzle solutions, and it supports PC VR in a higher quality than the Quest VR version can do. With some new stuff, as we know the games so well already. And even better, a VR photorealistic Riven. I hope I will really play that one, one day. We are still far from a photorealistic rendering, that would be the ultimate version as we see that each Unreal engine version really move the step up. I am huge Cyan fan from early days and I always supported them, when it was not to buy the same game again and again, but what is really the difference between the last Myst and the already 3D Real Myst? The possibility to play the puzzle with new random parameters (ok that´s a nice idea) and to play it in VR as it´s the VR Quest version in a bit better than the Quest and that´s it no? So it´ the ultimate Myst Version before comes and ultime ultimate VR 3D Version 2, I suppose.
